151st Bushy Park Show

February 21, 2026

At the Bushy Park Showground, Gordon River Rd, Bushy Park.

Nestled among the hop fields in the heart of Tasmania’s Derwent Valley, the 2026 Bushy Park Show will be our 151st event. Originally held as a strawberry feast in the 1860s, it grew into an agricultural show that became a New Year’s Day fixture with trains bringing hundreds of passengers from Hobart and other stations. In the modern era the show has settled into its new February fixture, offering families an affordable late-summer day out in the country. The expansive showground provides more than enough space for everyone to freely move around and take in the exhibits.

We look forward to seeing you there. In the meantime, re-live our 150th anniversary show through the coverage provided by New Norfolk and Derwent Valley News:

Sponsorship

The Bushy Park Show Society is currently seeking sponsors for the 151st Show which will take place on Saturday, 21 February 2026. We hope you will
help this popular, not-for-profit community event continue.

The Bushy Park Show is the Derwent Valley’s agricultural show. It is coordinated wholly by volunteers, who also maintain the Bushy Park Showgrounds year-round by community agreements with the hop farm that date back over a century.

Donations, sponsors and grants allow this event and its traditions to continue. Please contact the committee via email if you or your organisation would like further information about sponsorship opportunities.

FAQs

Unfortunately, the Bushy Park Showgrounds are in an area with very poor mobile phone reception. Improving access to internet services onsite is something the Committee is working on, but for now we are a cash-only event. The closest ATMs can be found in New Norfolk, and cash may be withdrawn when making purchases at petrol stations leading into Bushy Park.

Our event site is a rural environment with gravel paths, grassed sections, uneven ground etc. However, we aim to provide an accessible event and have disability parking areas and accessible toilets at multiple points within the event venue.

Our site is across two flat levels, connected by a gravel path.

Volunteers are available throughout the day to advise patrons on access matters if required.

There is parking on the Showgrounds themselves, with gates opening at 9am.

Signs and volunteers will direct you to overflow parking areas nearby once the interior parking areas are full.

There is very limited roadside parking, we request Show patrons respect the local residents by not obstructing driveways, gates or parking on verges.

Take care walking from your vehicle to the Show as there are no footpaths.

The Bushy Park Show is a family-friendly, traditional country event. We have limited rides but plenty for younger people to do for free. They can enter a competition in advance or simply enjoy the day with an early learner’s corner, kids activities, family entertainment on the ‘Village Green’, interactive displays and demonstrations, animal nursery and much more.

Most competitions require entry prior to the day. Entry forms, terms and conditions are available on the Competition Schedules and Entry Forms section on this page.

Please refer to the relevant information on those events and speak to a committee member on the day about how to get involved next year.

Yes, the Bushy Park Show is a licensed event. There is a bar for purchases on the day and some stallholders may be selling alcoholic beverages.

Proof of age (18+) and Responsible Service of Alcohol rules apply.
